Today was the start of the main event. We took buses at 8am to the Oktoberfest grounds and picked a tent to try and get a table. We went to the Hofbrau tent, the biggest at beerfest, holding 10 thousand people. We didn't manage to get a table inside but we had a nice table outside in the sunshine. At noon, the major tapped the first barrel and declared Oktoberfest open. After this the "Oompah" bands started and wenches began to carry all the steins out. Some carry 12 at a time, I could only manage 4 empty ones. Had lots of fun drinking a stein or 2 and enjoying the awesome atmosphere. Later in the evening we met up with Jared our house mate and went on a few rides.
