The Eden Project

On our travels we called in to see the famous Cornwall Eden Project. It is set in 35 acres of old quarry land. Its made up of two huge domes the size of 50 football pitches but also stunning gardens outside. 1 dome was a Mediterranean garden, the other the tropical rainforest.

Our 2nd Campsite

Tonight we stayed very near the coast at Carlyon Bay. A neat campsite but very quiet, we now know why..as it bucketed down all night!!!

Beer!

Today we visited the little town of Beer. It has a neat beach and also a few nice shops. A big focus of the town are Beer Quarry Caves. Over 2000 years ago beer stone was extracted by hand to build churches and buildings. It is seen in Westminster, London as well as many other places. Mum's name was written in the wall. Our guide told us, Wendy must have been popular with the quarrymen (note the pick axe marks)

Our first Campsite

We spent the first night at Newland Holidays on the south coast. It is a very well known beach for its fossils. A local even showed us a few! Here we enjoyed a lovely hot swim and even a disco in the evening!

Portland Castle

On the lovely hilltop of Easton is the Portland Castle. Luckily it was a beautiful day so the views were magnificent. The castle was built by Henry VII in the early 1540's to defend against possible invasion by the French.

Bournemouth

Over the weekend, Sam and I went camping down the South West region of England. Bournemouth was our first stop. A very beautiful city with a lovely beach, the water still a bit cold for a swim.

The New Forest

We took a short drive to the amazing New Forest in Hampshire. It is not unlike the Desert Road in NZ but with ponnies. We even had a pony in our car...very cool!!! Had a lovely big pub lunch where the Lamborghini's were parked up.

Sams 23rd Birthday

Sam turned 23 on the 17th of April. Unfortunately, we couldn't be in Egypt as planned due to the volcanic ash cloud. He did have a lovely birthday however, as we headed to Bath to celebrate. We had a lovely dinner at Jamie Oliver's Italian restaurant, followed by drinks at our favourite vodka bar :)

Spring Flowers

There is the most amazing amount of spring flowers in bloom at the moment. Also to fit in with the colours, I had my hair done...turned out a lot more red than expected!

Windsor Castle

Last week we visited Windsor Castle, the home of the Her Majesty the Queen. She was in residence when we visited, but was too busy to say hello. We also watched the famous changing of the guards ceremony.

Bluewater

This is the most amazing shopping centre, one of my favourite places too be! I spent a few nights here while working near London and we re-visited last week. Our shopping was followed by a lovely dinner with Mum's friends Pat and Dave Speller.
